Jaw Joint Disorders (TMD)

Dentures/TMD

If an accident, a disease or poor oral health care has left you with only a few healthy teeth or none at all, we may suggest dentures to replace your missing teeth. There are 2 types of dentures: partial and complete. For both types of dentures we begin by making a model of your teeth by taking impressions. The models are used to custom-make your dentures. More information on dentures is available from the Canadian Dental Association.

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD or TMJD) is a term that refers to pain and disfunction of the muscles of the jaw. When this area becomes irritated the muscles along the joint can become inflamed resulting in pain, which may include any or all of the following: Jaw ache, headache and even neck ache. Dr. Douglas understands that TMD can be debilitating and very painful. He will work with you to find the cause(s) of your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) issues and help to form a custom solution for you.

Implants

Root Canals
Implants/Root

If you need a new tooth but are otherwise in good general health, have healthy gums and enough bone in the jaw to hold an implant, dental implants might be right for you. A Dental Implant is a titanium metal implant that replaces the root of the lost tooth. The implant acts as a root for the new replacement tooth. Dr. Douglas is highly skilled at dental implants and will make sure that your new teeth perfectly match your natural teeth so you won't notice the difference!

The space inside your tooth is called the root canal. If the soft dental pulp within a tooth's root canal becomes infected or injured, root canal treatment is needed. Root canal treatment can help to save a tooth so you don't need to replace it. Dr. Douglas is well qualified with years of experience in root canal treatment and root canal surgery.
